
After I have finished shaping the pot on my wheel, I put it right outside my back door to dry until the rim becomes firm to the touch.

The plate is put back on the wheel. I use a variety of tools ( mostly junk jewelry) to make impressions around the plate.

Once the plate is completely dry it is fired on low in the kiln.
This is the plate after that first firing. It is now ready to be dipped in the glaze bucket. It will then be fired one last time.

These are sapphire blue dishes that have made it through the final process. This is a result that I am very pleased with. I am not always so lucky.
